About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Manchester United are reportedly hoping to lure Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele at Old Trafford as per the report in Mundo Deportivo (via SportsMole).

The 24-years-old joined the Catalan giants back in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for a whopping €125 million. The move hasn’t gone according to plan as he spent most of the time on the treatment table. Since his arrival at the club of Barcelona. The former Stade Rennais player played only 118 games for La Blaugrana over the past four campaigns, scoring 30 goals and assisting 21 times in this process.

According to the report, France international is currently in talks with Barcelona over a potential contract extension as the player’s contract will expire at the end of this season. However, Manchester United are actively looking to persuade Dembele to turn down the offer of La Liga giants and make a move to the Premier League next summer.

Apart from the Red Devils, the report is claiming that Juventus are also monitoring the 24-years-old’s contract situation. Barcelona and might make a move if the winger and the Blaugrana failed to reach an agreement.

Manchester United are looking to tempt Dembele for a move to Old Trafford:

Having already signed Jadon Sancho this summer. Manchester United are full of attacking talents within the squad. With Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Cristiano Ronaldo are also at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal.

So, signing yet another winger will not be necessary for the Norwegian manager. The Red Devils boss does not like to rotate his squad that often. Therefore, stacking the attacking department with more players does not make any sense. On the other hand, Dembele has a poor injury record and signing a player like that will be concerning for the Old Trafford faithful.

Meanwhile, after back-to-back disappointing results at home against Aston Villa and Everton in the Premier League. The questions have already been raised regarding the competency of Solskjaer. While a section of fans has already started to ask for his departure. But, the recent reports are suggesting that the Red Devils’ hierarchy have no intention of sacking the manager just yet.
