Manchester United winger Daniel James set to leave the club and join Leeds United

Manchester United have reportedly agreed to sell Daniel James to their old rival Leeds United, as per the report from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano

The Red Devils bought the 23-years-old back in 2019 from Swansea City for around £15 million. The winger started his career brilliantly, scoring three goals in the first four appearances. However, since then the Welshman has scored only nine goals in 74 games in all competitions over the past two campaigns.

According to the report, Manchester United have agreed on a fee of around £25 million plus £5 million in bonuses with Leeds United to sell Daniel James. The winger has also accepted personal terms with Marcelo Bielsa’s side and has undergone medical today.

Following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have enough firepower in the attacking area and the 23-years-old’s departure was inevitable after Amad Diallo’s loan move to Feyenoord collapsed due to thigh injury.

Daniel James is close to signing for Leeds United:

Making the move away from the Red Devils and joining Leeds United is a good decision for the Welshman. The leap from Championship football to one of the biggest clubs in the world was too much for the 23-years-old. And there will be less pressure on the young man’s shoulder to deliver every week at Elland Road.

Bielsa wanted James at Leeds United before his move to Old Trafford back in 2019. And the Argentine manager is finally getting his man after a few years of wait. The Peacocks’ boss likes to implement a high-pressing, expansive brand of football. And the Welsh international will be a perfect addition to that system for his energy and speed.

After a disappointing start to the season, Elland Road faithful will be hoping to see some positive results on the trot after the international break. And James will surely bring energy to the Leeds attack. And he will provide enough alternatives in the attack to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
