Marseille offers contract extension to this Man Utd Target

In a move to tie down one of their main players, Marseille has offered an option to extend the contract for youngster Boubacar Kamara. According to French news outlet L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 side has given the 21-year-old an option to extend for two more years.

Marseille was looking to sell the defensive midfielder this summer, but could not complete it. While the French side wanted something closer to €25 to €30 million for Kamara, no offers came close to that evaluation.

The attempt to sell him this summer has not gone well with Kamara. As a result, the player is reluctant to extend his contract with Marseille and move on a free the next summer. Many clubs like AC Milan, Lazio and Manchester United are said to be keeping an eye on the situation.

KAMARA NOT SURE OF MARSEILLE EXTENSION

Boubacar Kamara is one of the brightest talents of Marseille and has been part of the main team in the last few years. At the age of 21, he has already played 125 times for his team. This includes 99 appearances in the Ligue 1 as well.

The French U21 star is an excellent defensive midfielder. He is a good passer of the ball and is also good with tackles. Strong in aerial duels, Kamara also likes to take shots from the distance. Many clubs in Europe were monitoring the development of the player, including the big guns like Bayern Munich.

However, no clubs came up with offers that Marseille was expecting. The only bid on the table for Kamara was €14m from Newcastle United, which the club rejected. With only one year left in Kamara’s contract, the club has now found itself in a difficult situation.

Marseille does not want to lose their star on a free the next year. This is a reason why the club is now looking to extend its current contract. But the whole attempt to sell him this transfer window seems to have made Kamara frustrated with the club hierarchy. A recent robbery attempt at his home has made the situation worse.

As things stand, the player will not be accepting the contract extension. This will surely alert the top sides in Europe who are in search of a defensive midfielder.
