Mourinho attracting rumors of returning to Real Madrid or United

Spanish reports recently linked Jose Mourinho with a seemingly improbable return to Real Madrid. However, if Sir Jim Ratcliffe successfully completes his takeover of Manchester United, it’s quite possible that the ‘Special One’ could find himself back at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe is nearing the acquisition of a minority stake in Manchester United from the Glazer brothers. Hence, he will surely assume control over the team’s sporting operations.

Ratcliffe has prior experience in the realm of football. Currently, his Nice side is performing admirably in Ligue 1. This comes after encountering several unsuccessful attempts to make a significant impact at the Allianz Arena.

Mourinho to take reigns of which club?

The approach to success that Ratcliffe’s team is currently employing might not be the one that excites Manchester United fans. Nonetheless, it is undoubtedly a style that would be appreciated by Roma’s manager, Mourinho.

Francesco Farioli’s team has risen to the top of Le Championnat through a series of hard-fought, narrow victories. In fact, four of their last five matches have been secured by a slender 1-0 margin. Which includes their most recent fixture on Friday night against second-from-bottom Clermont.

Nice has adopted a strategy focused on being difficult to defeat, limiting the opposition’s scoring opportunities. Jean-Clair Todibo, a transfer target for the current Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, excelled in their recent match against the struggling Ligue 1 side. In contrast to the previous season when Nice prioritized style over results, this time, their emphasis has shifted towards a more pragmatic and outcome-driven approach.

Mourinho has well acquaintance with the style of football characterized by strong defense and pragmatism. Even if the reports suggesting that he might return to Real Madrid as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti next summer are perhaps sensationalism, especially considering they were reports from Mundo Deportivo, there are certain similarities in the way Nice is currently playing.
