Not possible for Bayern to keep Goretzka and Kimmich at any cost

Bayern president not sure about Kimmich and Goretzka stay

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has come out and said that it is not possible for his club to keep their stars at any cost. Hainer was talking specifically about midfielders Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.

Both Goretzka and Kimmich have not yet renewed their contract with Bayern. Though reports suggest that the pair will sign a new deal shortly, nothing official has come from the Bundesliga champions.

The Rekordmeister won the DFL Supercup, beating Borussia Dortmund 1-3. Goretzka and Kimmich was part of the Bayern team that beat Dortmund. The champions however are concerned with the contract situation of their players. While Kimmich still has two years left in his contract, Goretzka can leave the club the next summer for free.

GORETZKA AND KIMMICH STAY AT BAYERN NOT GUARANTEE

Herbert Hainer however has given the signal that Bayern will not go to any extent to renew the contracts with its players. When asked about Goretzka and Kimmich he replied -“will certainly not be kept at any cost”.

“The players know what they have at Bayern, they are paid very well here too, everyone gets their salary. And they can win titles with us now, and also in the future.”- said Hainer.

Hainer’s comments provide the stance that Bayern have taken. The pandemic has had an impact on the Bundesliga champions and they are not ready to further increase the wages of the players. Another reason to not renew the contracts “at any cost” would be the reactions from other players like Kingsley Koman and Niklas Sule, who could also demand higher wages.

Bayern are moving on a fine line and would not want to further escalate the situation. The club saw the departure of David Alaba, Javi Martinez and Jerome Boateng this summer on free transfers. If they are not able to tie Goretzka to a new contract, the midfielder could sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs. With Real Madrid and Manchester United circling around Goretzka, the next few weeks will be crucial for the Bavarians.
