Player Profile: Prabir Das

Former Mohun Bagan player Prabir Das joins the Kerala Blasters ahead of the 2023–24 season. Prabir joins the Manjappada Brigade on a three-year deal. Besides Prabir, another Bengali defender, Pritam Kotal, also joins the Blasters after completing his stint with MBSG.

Career Highlights: Prabir Das:

Prabir Das started his career at Pailan Arrows. Later in 2013, Prabir joined Goan giant Dempo SC on a one-year loan deal. During the 2014-15 season, the Bengali fullback played for Hero ISL side FC Goa and Delhi Dynamos on loan but got very little game time.

Later in January 2016, the 29-year-old right back signed for Mohun Bagan on a two-year deal. But Prabir switched to ISL side Atletico de Kolkata on loan. After his loan stint, Prabir permanently joined ATK in 2017.

Prabir spent two years with the ISL side and also won the Hero ISL title in 2016. In the 2019–20 season, Prabir Das was a vital part of coach Antonio Lopez Habas’s ISL-winning squad. Following the merger of ATK and Mohun Bagan, Prabir continued his journey with ATK Mohun Bagan and spent another two years with the club.

Prabir, the very own player for the Mariners, left the club after the 2021–22 season. Later, he joined Bengaluru FC ahead of the 2022–23 season. Prabir, who won the Durand Cup 2022 with the Blues, was a part of Bengaluru FC’s ISL runners-up squad that year.

The Sodepur-born right back has played 41 matches for Mohun Bagan AC, 48 matches for ATK, and 44 matches for ATK Mohun Bagan. Last year, he also played 29 matches for Bengaluru FC. He also played in the age-group tournaments for the national team.

Prabir has quick speed, a good first touch, and a decent passing range. He is effective in one-on-one defending and excellent at providing lethal swinging crosses to his strikers moving through the flanks.
