PSG to sign Memphis Depay from Rivals Olympique Lyon?

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

PSG are reportedly interested in signing Memphis Depay from rivals, Lyon. However, FC Barcelona are leading the race. But, it seems that the French club might steal the show by signing him.

The 27-year-old forward had been a key player for his club as well as for his nation. But, he couldn’t inspire his team for a win against new Ligue 1 leaders, PSG. Also, he is available as a free transfer and the deal towards Spain or Paris might be possible.

However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas believes that Depay would stay with the club and continues to create history there. His contract expires on June 30, 2021.

PSG want to win Ligue 1 signing Memphis Depay from their arch-rivals

The Parisians are thinking of hijacking the Memphis Depay deal by not allowing him to join Ronald Koeman’s side. Depay has been in the transfer rumors as the newly installed club president considers signing him alongside Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, David Alaba and Erling Haaland among the big names.

The Dutch striker joined Olympique Lyonnais after a woeful stint at Manchester United in 2017. Additionally, he had scored 69 goals in 169 matches for Les Gones. However, the only unappealing fact is that he hadn’t won a single trophy for the Red Devils or the French club.

Thus, a move to Paris would obviously guarantee at least winning one trophy as they are hoping to win the Champions League. Everything is getting back to normal times as PSG are currently leading the Ligue 1 table.

Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of the striker and thus, it seems that Les Rouge et Bleu would be definitely thinking about such a transfer. Besides the Blaugranas, Depay has caught the attention of Italian giants, Inter Milan and Juventus. Thus, Depay will have to make a tough decision, whether to stay or to leave and win trophies!
