Rangnick wants Manchester United to sign two strikers this summer

Manchester United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick has advised his club should sign two new strikers in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils will have to see a flurry of players leave the club at the end of this season. And Edinson Cavani is one of the players who will leave. Along with the Uruguayan, Frenchman, Anthony Martial, could also be shown the exit door.

Meanwhile, following Mason Greenwood’s incident, his football career is in jeopardy. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo might also opt to relocate his future elsewhere, given the Red Devils have failed to secure a place in the Champions League next season.

Speaking on press(via MEN), Ralf Rangnick alluded that Manchester United relies too much on Cristiano Ronaldo. And the club should sign two forwards in the summer transfer window. He said:

“We also go through the list of names that are missing since the West Ham game. We had all the offensive players on the pitch. The only offensive player we still had available on the bench was Juan Mata, he came on for the last 20 minutes.

“We have to be still fair with the players. We had quite a few other players also scoring goals, I remember my first 10 games and we had 10 different goalscorers. It is how many opportunities can we create and how many players do we have available. Compare our bench today with the bench that Chelsea had and the first XI they had. This is not an excuse, just an explanation. Right now, we very much rely on Cristiano.”

Will Manchester United listen to Ralf Rangnick?

Manchester United has already turned down the suggestion of Ralf Rangnick in the January transfer window. The German wanted to sign a new forward and a midfielder to help the Red Devils in achieving their primary objective which was to qualify for the Champions League.

However, the club’s hierarchy didn’t listen to their interim boss, and the consequences of that. Manchester United didn’t go past the round of 16 stages of Europe’s elite club competition. And they have failed to secure a place in the said competition for next season.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have appointed Erik ten Hag as their new manager. The Dutchman will take charge from next season. And it will be interesting to see what the club’s approach will be in the transfer market this summer.
