Robert Lewandowski is in excellent form, since his transfer from Bayern Munich, to FC Barcelona this season. He scored a whopping 17 goals in the last 17 matches that he has played this season. But even his excellent run could not salvage Barcelona’s campaign in the UEFA Champions League. Now all eyes are on La Liga where La Blaugrana is still in contention for the title.
More Robert Lewandowski scores for Barcelona, More Bayern Munich earns
But as Robert Lewandowski is scoring goals for Barcelona, it is also helping to fill Bayern Munich’s coffers. This is because a piece of interesting information has surfaced from Barcelona and Bayern Munich’s contract.
Barcelona paid €45 million for the Polish striker at the start of the season. However, they have to pay another €1.25 million for all 25 goals that he scores in a particular season. This strange condition was put into the contract. Both the clubs agreed upon it. This installment will be paid by Barca to Bayern for four seasons.
This means €5 million will be added to Bayern’s account every year. In La Liga, Robert Lewandowski is the highest goal scorer with his teammate Ousmane Dembele in the second position, and has scored just two goals this season.
Bayern Munich will enjoy a smooth ride
Barcelona is knocked out of the UEFA Champions League. They lost a crucial match against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou earlier this month. Hence, Bayern Munich would love to see their former superstar as many goals as he can for Barcelona this season.
The German club will play its next match against Inter Milan at Allianz Arena in Munich in the UEFA Champions League. In the Bundesliga, however, challenging teams such as Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen, and Schalke 04 can trouble Die Bayern (The Bavarians). For now, they are sitting comfortably at the 2nd position in the Bundesliga table.
