According to a recent update on Transfermarkt, the market value of Barcelona and Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araujo has increased. This is likely due to his impressive performances and contribution to Barcelona’s success this season.

Following the latest update on the Transfermarkt website on 23rd March, Ronald Araujo market value increased from €60 million to €70 million. This surge in value is a reflection of his crucial contribution to Barcelona’s success this season.

Notably, his value almost doubled in the past year, having been getting a value of €40 million in March 2022. With his new market value, Araujo joins the ranks of some of the most highly valued central defenders in Europe. This include Ruben Dias of Manchester City and Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig, who have a value of €75 million each.

How did Araujo become one of the highest valued in the world?

Araujo has strong physical attributes, technical abilities, and leadership qualities on the field. Hence, it is not beyond expectations that Ronald Araujo is currently one of the most highly valued central defenders in the world.

Barcelona is aiming to finalize the registration of Ronald Araujo’s new contract. This has already been signed and agreed upon by both the club and player. However, the process has been in a delay due to Barcelona exceeding their current salary limit. This needs to be rectified before the contract can officially get recognition from La Liga.

Ronald Araujo is currently the third most valuable player in the Barcelona squad, behind Pedri and Gavi. The registration of his new contract is a top priority for the club. However, La Liga has not yet recognized the contract due to Barcelona exceeding their current salary limit. Once recognized, Araujo’s new release clause of €1 billion will become active. Thus, securing the continuity of one of their most important players.
