Sir Jim Ratcliffe to kick-start Man United era by offloading seven players

Finally, the start of the end of the Glazer reign at Manchester United has begun. The Man United ownership saga has been going on for too long. The fans are fed up of the Glazers and have been regularly staging protests against them. Earlier this week, it was announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will acquire a 25% stake in Manchester United. Following this acquisition, big changes are expected from the new man in charge of operations the Old Trafford.

Axe hanging over seven players as Sir Jim Ratcliffe comes in

According to a report in The Sun, seven Man United players are in danger of being sold and replaced. Jadon Sancho and Antony are the two obvious names on the list. Both were big money signings for the same right-wing position and both have failed to impress. Sancho even had a fallout with current manager Erik ten Hag.

Andre Onana, Raphael Varane and Casemiro are are three other names on the list. All three were excellent for their former clubs and the Red Devil’s fans expected a lot from them, but they have failed to live up to their expectations. Onana in particular looks like a shadow of himself from last season. He carried Inter Milan to the UCL final with his excellent goalkeeping but for Man United, he is making blunders after blunders.

Some bold decisions to be taken

Given the state Manchester United are in, some bold decisions have to be taken. Even if some fans don’t like the bold decisions, Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to make them. Selling the club captain and best player is one such decision, and the report backs that. Captain Bruno Fernandes is the next name on the list. Even though he is Man United’s most consistent player, he has had issues regarding his attitude.

The last name on that list is former captain Harry Maguire. Three months ago, he would’ve been an obvious name on that list. Man United even tried to offload him in the summer but a deal with West Ham fell through at the last moment. However, in the recent months, he has been the club’s best defender and arguably the best player. He was also named The Premier League’s Player of the Month for November. Maguire’s inclusion in the list is understandable though because we all have seen how error-prone he can be.
