Stade Rennes have won the race for Ghana sensation Kamaldeen Sulemana. Amidst interest from Manchester United and Ajax, the forward chose the Ligue 1 side.
Rennes reportedly paid a €15,000,000 fee plus add ons to Danish side FC Nordsaelland for the 19-year-old attacker’s services. Another signing for Rennes to beef up their squad ahead of the new season.
Rennes have signed Sulemana on a five year deal. Given Rennes’ track record of helping youngsters flourish, the youngster believes it was his best choice.
Speaking to the club website, Sulemana: “I am very happy to join Stade Rennais FC, a very good French club. The project meets my expectations. The Ligue 1 Uber Eats is one of the best leagues in Europe.”
“There is a very good team in Rennes, a lot of talent. I know the club is famous for its training. For a young player like me, this is the best choice for progress.”
“I have come to help the team achieve their goals. It is a great challenge to take up.”
Only 19-years-old, the attacker looks to be on his way to the top. He has scored 10 goals and assisted 5 in the Superliga last season.
Kamaldeen will join fellow youngsters and prospects Edouard Camavinga and Jeremy Doku. They will stand out as examples of players getting groomed and prepared to their careers to the highest level.
Sulemana also joins Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah and and John Boyce as Ghanaians playing for Rennes.
However, as a natural left-winger, Kamaldeen will have huge competition for a place in the side. Rennes already have an exciting 19-year-old left-winger at the club in the form of Jeremy Doku.
