Tottenham change mind over Richarlison January move

Richarlison

Sources have claimed that Tottenham are now considering a January move for Richarlison. This is a U-turn from their stance a month ago. In November it was reported that Spurs would reject all offers for the 26-year-old.

Richarlison could part ways with the North London club next month. He has failed to settle in following his £60 million move from Everton. It is understood that there is heavy interest in the Brazilian’s signature from Saudi Arabia. Moreover, Tottenham are now willing to cash in on Richarlison.

The cash from his sale would be very helpful for Spurs

The Spurs’ management are now losing patience in Richarlison. They no longer believe that he can turn things around at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A well-placed source previously told Football Insider that Richarlison’s Tottenham move ‘hasn’t worked out for all parties’.

Tottenham believe the huge money on offer from Saudi clubs would definitely help boost their own transfer budget. Ange Postecoglou is eager to add to his squad over January to address the club’s current injury crisis.

Richarlison has not been as prolific as Tottenham would’ve liked

Richarlison’s poor run of form in front of goal is the primary reason for the U-turn in Tottenham’s stance. He has scored just twice and assisted three times in 13 appearances for Spurs across all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign. Since completing his move to Spurs, he has scored a grand total of five goals in 48 total appearances.

After Harry Kane’s departure this summer, Richarlison was expected to lead the line for Tottenham. The manager even played him as the striker at the start of the season, but he failed to make most out of his chances.

Now 15 league games into the season, the 26-year-old is struggling for regular spots in the starting XI. Postecoglou has prefered Heung-Min Son as a sole striker rather than playing Richarlison.
