Tottenham Hotspur is planning to complete a swap deal for Leandro Paredes

Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte led Tottenham Hotspur to a top 4 finish after a topsy-turvy season in 2021/22. The club qualified for UEFA Champions League after an absence of two years. Harry Kane and Son Heung Min scored a combined 30 goals for the club in the Premier league.

However, the lack of creativity and contribution from the midfield was apparent to the management. The burden fell on both the superstars to score and assist. Tottenham Hotspurs has expressed an interest in signing Leandro Paredes from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The club also bought Rodrigo Bentancur to address the creativity and solidity in midfield during the winter transfer window. However, the club is looking to add Leandro Paredes to have depth in the squad. Manager, Antonio Conte has approved the use of Japhet Tanganga for a swap deal for Leandro Paredes.

Leandro Paredes will need to adapt to life at Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have an abundance of defensive-minded midfielders in the form of Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The club is looking to add a midfielder who can play in the channels between the midfield and the frontline. Leandro Paredes will have to adapt his playing style to operate more offensively at Spurs.

Paris Saint-Germain is looking to add a central defender this summer whereas the Argentine midfielder is looking for more minutes. Leandro Paredes only appeared in 15 Ligue 1 games last season. The midfielder will hope to get more minutes as a place with Argentina at the FIFA World Cup is up for grabs.

Tottenham Hotspur is in desperate need to offload players as well to balance their books. The North London side has spent big this summer with acquisitions of Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Djed Spence. The club has also signed Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs will be able to secure another quality midfielder to complete the summer spending for Antonio Conte!!
