Unlike last week, this week, more extensions have been taken place in Mumbai city. Also major departure than new signings have been taking place in the ISL teams. Last week 14 transfers took place. Although it seems like every week there will be at least one signings in East Bengal. Lets read.

Mumbai City announced the contract extension of Jorge Peryera Diaz till 2024

Mumbai City FC’s enormously prosperous season, during which the Islanders won the Indian Super League Winners’ Shield in 2022–2023, was greatly aided by the 32-year-old marksman. Diaz emerged as a crucial player in Mumbai City FC’s deadly offence, contributing 10 assists in addition to 12 goals across all competitions. For the Islanders, the Argentine had the third-highest goal contribution total.

Saul Crespomis all set to join for Odisha FC on a free transfer

Saul Crespo, a 26-year-old Spanish midfielder who was playing for Odisha FC, has been signed by East Bengal FC for a one-year contract. The previous year, the Spaniard scored three goals for Odisha FC in the Durand Cup and contributed two assists in the Indian Super League. A total of 26 games were played for the club in all competitions, and he was regarded as an active presence in the midfield. Moreover, he helped the club place sixth in the Hero Indian Super League, reach the quarterfinals of the Durand Cup, and win the Hero Super Cup for the first time ever in the club’s history.

Mehtab Singh is all set to stay at Mumbai City FC on a multi-year deal

Prior to the Hero ISL 2020–21 season, he signed with Mumbai City FC, where he made 12 appearances. He was included to the club’s 2022 AFC Champions League team later in March 2022. He made 21 appearances for the team this season and scored 2 goals in the league. The tri-nation series has called the defender to participate.

Bengaluru FC officially announced the departure of 4 players

The departure of three first-team players, Pablo Perez, Prince Ibara, Udanta Singh and Prabir Das has been officially announced by Bengaluru FC.

Ibara played 17 times for Bengaluru FC in the ISL, making four goals and one assist. The DR Congo attacker, however, lost his season to injury and saw very little action.

Bengaluru FC primarily put Perez as an impact substitute; he made just one start after being acquired. In 19 appearances across all competitions, he scored two goals, and in his campaign for the Hero Super Cup, he failed to score any goals.

Prabir, on the other hand, decided to join Bengaluru FC last summer. He actually started a lot of games as Bengaluru put together that stunning unbeaten run towards the end of the season, but in 20 ISL outings, he only contributed one assist.

One of Bengaluru FC’s players with the longest tenure, Udanta Singh, departs from the team after nine years. Udanta will begin a new chapter in his career with FC Goa as he seeks to establish himself as a crucial member of his new squad. Moreover, the loss of Udanta is a serious setback for Bengaluru FC.

Odisha FC officially announced the departure of 6 players

Seven players from the first squad, including Saul Crespo, Pedro Martin, Raynier Fernandes, Denechandra Meitei, Lalruatthara Bose, Nandha Kumar and Karan Amin have been released by Odisha FC.

During the ISL 2022–23 season, Kalinga Warriors forward Martin and midfielders Crespo and Fernandes were regulars in the starting lineup. Martin played in 20 games, but only clocked 828 total minutes. He still contributed three goals and an assist.

Midfielder Fernandes contributed three assists while playing the same number of games for the team. As Odisha FC made history by qualifying for the playoffs, Crespo contributed two assists over the course of 18 games and was one of the team’s most important players.

Lalruatthara appeared in just 14 games for Odisha FC, compared to Meitei’s four starts in his 14 appearances. Amin did not play for the side, on the other hand.

The finest season by an Indian player in the colours of Odisha FC was one in which he scored 11 goals, provided three assists, and made 20+ more contributions to goals. Moreover, with the exception of a suspension, Nandha started on over 95% of occasions and was an important part of the Odisha FC system.

Dimas Delgado is all set to join East Bengal as assistant coach

Dimas Delgado, a former key member of Bengaluru FC, will work as Carles Cuadrat’s assistant at East Bengal. Delgado, who is 40 years old, was playing for the Spanish club Monatnesa. Moreover, in 2017, he returned to India after spending two years playing for Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia. He played for the Blues until 2021 and helped them win the ISL in 2018.

Delgado will get his first experience as a tactician at East Bengal because the former midfielder wants to establish himself as a coach as well!

Northeast United FC officially announced the signing of coach Juan Pedro Benali on a 1+1 year deal

The 54-year-old Juan Pedro Benali is the technical assistant for the Finnish national team in addition to having coached teams on three separate continents—Europe, Asia, and Africa. Since the strategist has many ties in Indian football, he has been attentively monitoring the ISL for the past few years. Benali, who competed for RS Berkane in the 2021 African Super Cup Final, has a history of success and distinction. Moreover, in 2008, his work as Vissel Kobe’s head coach led to the team being promoted to the J League and receiving Japan’s “Best Attack” Award.
