Xavi might Surpass the incredible record held by iconic Barca managers Pep, Tito, Lucho

FC Barcelona, coached by Xavi Hernández, has been on a continuous run of success this season, winning 12 away games on the road and closing in on the benchmarks set by three iconic Blaugrana managers. As they prepare for their next away match against Espanyol. The club still has three more away games to establish a new record under Xavi.

Xavi could engrave his name in the club’s history book

Barcelona earned three points for each 12 away matches this season against the following 12 teams. They have defeated Real Sociedad, Sevilla, Cadiz, Mallorca, Valencia, Osasuna, Atletico, Girona, Betis, Villarreal, Athletic, and Elche. Three away games remain, with the next coming against Espanyol, followed by matches against Valladolid and Celta.

Barcelona’s outstanding league campaign continues under the leadership of club icon Xavi. Hence their superb run of away game performances has drawn recognition as they are on the verge of making history. While the ultimate goal has always been to capture their 27th league title. Still the milestones along this path are tough to overlook.

Xavi is on the verge of equaling, if not exceeding, the record of 14 away victories set by legendary managers Pep Guardiola (2010-2011), Tito Vilanova (2012-2013), and Luis Enrique (2014-2015). With three points against Espanyol, Xavi may come within one win of equaling this outstanding record.

Pep set a new milestone for Barcelona with the most away wins in the 2010-2011 season, breaking the previous record of 12 wins. This feat was later repeated by Tito Vilanova in the 2012-2013 season, who was famed for securing 100 points. During their respective seasons, both coaches had 14 victories, 3 ties, and 2 losses. Later on Luis Enrique joined the party in 2015 treble-winning campaign.

The Spanish maestro-turned-coach appears to be on track to break his predecessors’ long-standing record. The icing on the cake is the chance of claiming a 100-point season, which he lost out on after losing to Rayo Vallecano. Barcelona has seven games left this season. Barca claiming all three points from the remaining away matches will place both the players and Xavi in the club’s history book.
