Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen Wanted by Manchester United

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

In what could be a huge lifeline for Christian Eriksen, Manchester United have reignited their interest in the Inter Milan flop. The player himself would like to start things afresh after a disastrous move that has seen him struggle for game-time.

After spending almost 7 years at Tottenham Hotspur, Eriksen decided to join Inter to ‘try something new’. Since then he has appeared for the Nerazzurris in 37 games and has scored 4 goals.

This season he has appeared for the Serie A side just 11 times, most of them being substitute appearances. A move during the January transfer window seems imminent for the midfielder to get his form back.

Eriksen’s Dip in Form:

The 27-year-old Danish playmaker was a superstar at Tottenham. He controlled the midfield and tore defences with the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

With Mauricio Pochettino, the team went on to achieve great height. They finished 2nd in the Premier League and were the runners-up for the Champions League.

However, after Pochettino was sacked, Eriksen decided to leave the club. He had scored 69 goals and provided 89 assists in his time at Spurs.

Inter Milan signed him in the January transfer window of 2020 for £17 million. After his first few games, Antonio Conte warned the Danish international about his form.

Expectations are high in Italy. The bigger the name you are, the more people expect from you. I’ve worked in England and the situation there is more enjoyable, more peaceful. He’s committed and doing well, but I have to make decisions for the good of Inter.

When I pick a player, I don’t look from the neck up. I want them to carry on like this. This team have great spirit. Sometimes they need to believe in their quality more.

– Antonio Conte

This season has been more demanding and Eriksen is not getting the game-time he needs.

Manchester United Interested in Eriksen

Paul Pogba is most likely to leave the Red Devils in January. Eriksen still has the class in him to shine alongside Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek.

At Inter, Eriksen’s biggest struggle was the language barrier. A timid nature meant that he could not express himself the way he wanted to.

With a manager like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who looks to bring out the best in his players, Eriksen has a really good go at getting his form back. Returning to a much familiar environment can boost his confidence and help him return to his true self.
