Manchester United Target Kingsley Coman Rejects Contract at Bayern

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit for a winger as Kingsley Coman is looking set on leaving Bayern Munich. He turned down an improved contract that would keep him at the club till 2026.

Kingsley Coman joined the Bundesliga champions from Juventus on an initial loan deal later made permanent in 2015. Although he was a secondary option then, he is now a crucial member of the team.

He had a brilliant season last year where he won the sextuple with Bayern Munich. In fact, it was Coman who scored the decisive goal in the Champions League final against PSG. This season, he has been involved in 20 goals given the fact he mostly features from the bench.

Manchester United who are currently 2nd in the Premier League have been keeping an eye on the Frenchman for some time. They will be on high alert and hope to land him in case he decides to leave.

MANCHESTER UNITED HOPING TO LAND COMAN

Kingsley Coman has been on the radar of both the Manchester clubs for some time. But it is the Red Devils who has shown further interest than The Citizens.

Coman is currently on £140,000 per week. Bayern are keen on keeping the promising player and handed an improved deal that would extend his stay by 3 years. But the deal was not satisfactory enough for the 24-year-old to pen down the contract as he expected more.

Bayern will be returning with an improved deal, but the rejection of the initial deal has opened doors for an apparent exit. That gives Manchester United the upper hand.

The Red Devils have been in the market for a winger since last season. They have been and are still heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Coman was an alternative in case that deal didn’t go through.

The Englishman remains their priority, but if that fails yet again, they will be going for Coman. It was also reported that United was willing to almost double his wage to £260,000 per week in order to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams.

KINGSLEY COMAN – AN IMPORTANT ASSET FOR BAYERN MUNICH

Before the January transfer window, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge made it definite that Coman will not be going anywhere.

“Kingsley is an absolute top player today and is extremely valuable for Bayern. He often makes the difference, just when it counts the most. Kingsley is not for sale.” – Bayern Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

The reigning champions will be trying their best not to repeat their mistake. David Alaba who has been a long time Bayern player will be leaving the club at the end of the season on a free transfer. They will be hoping not to lose another talented player on a free transfer in the form of Kingsley Coman’s, whose contract is set to expire in 2023.
