Since his departure from Real Madrid to join Real Sociedad last year, Takefusa Kubo is beginning to display the immense potential. That initially prompted the Merengues to sign him four years ago.

The 22-year-old Japanese winger never had the opportunity to showcase his talents at the Santiago Bernabeu. Following several loan stints, he made the switch to Sociedad last year, where he is now flourishing.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid is closely monitoring Takefusa Kubo’s progress and development at Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid views Kubo as a potential asset for the future and is actively observing his advancement at Real Sociedad. Since his departure from Real Madrid to join Real Sociedad, Kubo has delivered impressive numbers, with 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 matches.

This season, the Japanese international has been in outstanding form. Contributing eight goals (5 goals, 3 assists) from just 11 appearances in all competitions.

What does Real Madrid plan to do with Takefusa Kubo?

Naturally, Real Madrid has taken notice of Kubo’s impressive performances and is closely monitoring his progress.

Takefusa Kubo is under contract with Real Sociedad until the summer of 2027. And his contract includes a release clause of €60 million. Unlike previous reports, it’s important to note that Real Madrid does not retain 50% of the winger’s rights; he is now 100% a player of Real Sociedad.

While Real Madrid no longer holds 50% of Takefusa Kubo’s rights, they do have a 50% future sell-on clause as part of the deal. This clause essentially enables them to re-sign him for €30 million. Whether The Merengues chooses to exercise this option and act on their interest in Kubo next summer remains to be seen.
