There was recently a significant revelation regarding the future of Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio. After months of speculation, the 27-year-old winger made the decision to depart from the club this summer. Since his contract will expire on June 30.
According to reports, Marco Asensio was content with the offer presented by Real Madrid. However, he harbored concerns regarding his playing time and role within the team. Consequently, he opted to depart from the club. Meanwhile, a potential move to PSG seems to be emerging as a likely destination for him.
Asensio’s forthcoming departure will create a void in Real Madrid’s squad. Thus, necessitating the acquisition of a replacement during the summer transfer window. However, according to AS, the club reportedly excluded the possibility of re-signing former winger Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad as a substitute for Asensio.
Will Real Madrid make Takefusa Kubo a replacement of Marco Asensio?
Kubo, who spent a number of years at Real Madrid, unfortunately did not feature in any first-team matches. After multiple loan spells, the Japanese international joined Real Sociedad permanently last summer in a transfer worth €6 million. In this transfer agreement, Real Madrid still holds a 50% stake in Kubo’s rights. Thus he also possesses the option to exercise their first refusal on the player in the future.
Considering Kubo’s impressive performances during his debut season with Real Sociedad, discussions have arisen regarding Real Madrid potentially re-signing him in the near future. The Japanese talent showcased his abilities after contributing with nine goals and nine assists in 42 appearances this season for La Real.
Real Sociedad has included a release clause of €60 million in Kubo’s contract. Although Real Madrid holds a 50% stake in his rights, they would still need to pay €30 million to bring him back to the Bernabeu. However, the current stance of the Spanish capital club is that they are not willing to invest such an amount to re-sign Kubo as a replacement for the departing Asensio. Therefore, at this moment, the prospect of Kubo returning to Real Madrid has been ruled out.
