Romelu Lukaku might get a permanent transfer to Roma next summer

after their collision

Chelsea aims to complete the permanent transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Roma next summer, hoping to finalize his departure. Lukaku has been in outstanding form, scoring nine goals in 14 games for the Italian club this season. Additionally, he recently netted four goals for Belgium against Azerbaijan, showcasing his impressive goal-scoring prowess.

Despite Romelu Lukaku’s impressive form, Chelsea is still eager to sell him. Since, they contemplate bringing in another striker either in January or the following summer. Chelsea fixed a £37 million price tag for the Belgian striker, a figure that Roma is reportedly willing to pay should Lukaku maintain his positive form.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho is supportive of a permanent move for Romelu Lukaku. However, there is uncertainty surrounding Mourinho’s future at the club. Since, he received a 104 million pounds contract in Saudi Arabia last summer. His current deal with Roma will expire after the season finishes.

Can Romelu Lukaku thrive at Roma?

Antonio Conte is emerging as the early favorite to replace Mourinho at Roma. Conte shares a close bond with Romelu Lukaku from their time together at Inter Milan. During which Lukaku experienced the most successful phase of his career.

Roma might need to secure qualification for European competitions to finalize a permanent deal for Lukaku. Alternatively, they could consider selling Tammy Abraham back to the Premier League if the need arises to generate funds. Lukaku was brought in as a replacement for Abraham, who is sidelined with a long-term knee injury and is not expected to return soon.

Juventus had shown interest in Romelu Lukaku during the summer, and they might re-enter the competition with Roma for his signature. AC Milan is also reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation, indicating potential competition for Lukaku’s services.

For a permanent move to Serie A, Romelu Lukaku would likely need to accept a significant reduction in his wages, potentially forgoing at least half of his £325,000-a-week salary. Currently, Lukaku stands as the highest-paid player on Chelsea’s roster, with two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.
