Roy Krishna signs for Odisha FC

Odisha FC announced the signing of Roy Krishna on a year-long deal. The 35-year-old Fijian striker comes with immense experience playing in the topflight of Indian football. He is currently the fourth highest goal scorer in the Hero ISL, with 42 goals in 82 games. He has also registered 23 assists so far.

Roy has been in the ISL for four seasons now, having joined ATK ahead of the 2019-20 season. He finished as the joint-highest goal scorer, eventually helping his team win the ISL title in his debut season. He went on to find the net with the club, which merged with Mohun Bagan to become ATK Mohun Bagan and won the Best Footballer of the Year 2021 from the club.

Then the following season joining Bengaluru FC, Roy had a fabulous pairing with Sivashakti in the attack. He won the Durand Cup and being runner-up in both the ISL and Super Cup.

Krishna effect at Odisha FC

Roy Krishna is an excellent addition to Odisha FC along with Diego Mauricio on the front looking to build on its recent success. His presence can improve the squad’s morale, inspiring his teammates to raise their game. With the club signing Sergio Lobera as their coach, the team aims to win silverware at the club level and Asian level. With the addition several ISL experienced players, the club has a good squad depth and winning mentality.
