West Ham set to have a club overhaul this summer

West Ham

West Ham have reportedly agreed terms with Julen Lopetegui. The manager will look to mark a new era at the club. Though no contracts have been signed yet, Fabrizio Romano reports that the former Wolves manager has agreed terms with the Hammers. David Moyes’ place as manager will be taken by him ahead of the 2024–2025 campaign. David Moyes has had a tough season. A string of poor player results for the Hammers has resulted in his leaving the club. Tom Rennie, talkSPORT broadcaster, has said,

“What a huge summer for Lopetegui. Areola, Kudus, Alvarez, Bowen, & Emerson are the only players able to play what he wants.

“Forget Paqueta; he’s not staying. That’s half a team to be brought in. There needs to be some serious money brought in from sales. Lots of players out.”

The West Ham situation

This means that Lopetegui has already had talks about a big transfer window. West Ham have been disappointing this season. In spite of some big names on the sheet, the results haven’t been satisfying. The fans have criticized Moyes’ style of play. Understandably, they feel it’s highly defensive and not the type of football they want their team to play. It makes sense that the supporters of the Hammers are wary of Moyes’ replacement. The last time it happened, Manuel Pellegrini got fired eighteen months into his position. Then, David Moyes was brought back and helped the club avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Although he has been a big help to the club, the fans feel his time at the club is up. However, some fans are not happy with the decision to bring Lopetegui in. When the reports came, some fans criticized the move. However, the situation at the club does demand a change, and it is always the right thing to start with the manager.

Whenever there is talk of a new manager joining, it is a stressful period for the fans. However, the club’s intent will fill West Ham fans with hopes of a better future.
