FC Barcelona is keeping a close eye on rising Brazilian talent Wesley Franca. Flamengo currently has the 19-year-old right-back on its roster. The latest report from SPORT suggests that he is conscious of Barcelona’s interest in him. Hence, he instructed his agent to pursue this move.

There has already been one meeting between FC Barcelona and Flamengo to discuss the possibility of Wesley’s transfer. This meeting, however, wasn’t very productive.

Flamengo refused to accept Barcelona’s offer of a season-long loan with an optional purchase. Financial Fair Play rules, however, limit Barcelona’s maneuvering space, so Barcelona will stick to these demands.

Achievements till now by Wesley Franca at Brazil league

Wesley Franca is taking advantage of every opportunity to establish himself in professional football. On Wednesday, he had a great performance against Bangu in the Carioca Championship. The 16-year-old also scored with the Brazilian under-20 team. Thus, he became the youngest player to score at that level, surpassing Vinicius Junior’s record.

Those accomplishments are boosting Wesley’s optimism about moving to Barcelona. Likewise, Rafa Marquez’s activities are also a cause for optimism, as he is taking a keen interest in the teenager. Wesley will join other highly promising teenagers like Lucas Román at Barcelona B under Marquez.

Even though Wesley is likely to take a few years to establish himself in the Barca first team, he could be a very good long-term option. His main role is to play the right flank and bomb up and down the field as an attacking fullback.

Barcelona hopes to create a player similar to the stature of Dani Alves and Wesley definitely has the capability to become one.
