Ruben Neves eager to join Barca this summer

Ruben Neves has grown in stature since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from FC Porto. Despite the club’s instability the Portuguese international has established himself as one of the most significant midfielders in the Premier League throughout his time with Wolves. The 26-year-old has appeared in over 250 games for Wolverhampton Wanderers, and his market worth has risen to €40 million. However, Neves’ contract with the Midlands club expires in just over a year. A situation like this has alarmed other high-profile clubs, including Barcelona. Neves has long been a target for Barcelona. And the Catalan giants have already considered signing him from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Barcelona’s perilous financial situation has always prevented the 26-year-old from being signed.

However, with Neves’ contract with the Black Country outfit expiring in just over a year, a summer move could be in the cards. And Barcelona might be able to sign him for less than his market worth of €40 million. According to recent sources, Barcelona and Jorge Mendes have reached an agreement in principle for the Portuguese international. However, Xavi is hesitant about welcoming Neves into his squad for the 2023/24 season. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old is keen to join Barcelona during the summer transfer window. And the two parties have now reached an agreement on personal terms. Furthermore, the midfielder is willing to wait for Barcelona to make an offer to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Numerous Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing the Portuguese midfielder. However, since that personal terms are no longer an issue, a move to Barcelona could be on the cards. It will be intriguing to see if a summer deal between the Blaugrana and Wolverhampton Wanderers is reached.
