AC Milan to sign Messias for €4.5 million past deadline

Pioli

AC Milan was able to successfully sign Junior Messias for €4.5m from Crotone despite crossing the transfer deadline on 17 June.

Both the clubs, Crotone and AC Milan didn’t seem to be bothered by the deadline and continued transfer talks regarding the 31-year-old. Something very similar to what happened with Sandro Tonali last in the previous season.

It was initially a €5.4 million deal which was later shortened to €4.5 million with add-ons after brief talks at the table. It’s surprising to see how Messias jumped from a club in Serie C to playing the Champions League next season.

Messias will wear red and black

Messias will officially play for Rossoneri next year alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud. Stefano Pioli will pay close attention to the Brazillian’s playstyle in the frontline. Messias must make sure he can retain that spot permanently for Milan.

It is official that Divock Origi is leaving Liverpool for AC Milan on a free transfer. With Giroud and Zlatan already making an impact, Messias would more likely be Rossoneri’s 3rd priority for a winger. Above all this, Messias donned the Milan jersey once making 9 goal contributions in 36 appearances.

AC Milan’s intentions

The Rossoneri have been wanting to sign a forward for a long time but couldn’t succeed due to other European giants offering more money. They now scrambled to land Messias whom they loaned out to Crotone earlier.

Milan is planning to bring another right-winger to San Siro. A lot of big names like Christopher Nkunku, Marco Asensio & Domenico Berardi and were linked with Milan. The final plan is basically to strengthen their attack line for the 2022-23 season.

With Alex Saelemaekers’ dip in form, he is most likely to be on the bench. The Belgian saw good times wearing red and black but doesn’t look like he can get there anytime soon. As a replacement, Milan believes Messias can fill that vacancy perfectly.

Should Messias sign for AC Milan?

The Brazillian winger registered 4 assists and netted the ball on 9 occasions for Crotone. These stats are quite good for a club that’s fighting for relegation. The Scudetto winner should look for a move back to Serie A considering Crotone’s current position.

There is enough demand for the 31-year-old regarding a position on the front line. All he has to do is prove himself so the club doesn’t bench him or worse loan him out to a club that plays in Serie C.
