Amarjit Singh Kiyam makes a move to newly promoted Punjab FC

2022–23 Hero I-League champion Punjab FC gets a promotion to India’s top-tier football league. Punjab FC has announced the signing of young midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam for the upcoming season. Amarjit, captain of the Indian team at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, joins Punjab FC on loan from FC Goa.

Player Profile: Amarjit Singh Kiyam:

The 22-year-old Manipur-born midfielder started his football career at the AIFF Elite Academy. Till 2023, the most highlighted part of Amarjit’s career is to represent India in the U-17 FIFA World Cup. He also made his senior National team debut in 2019 under coach Igor Stimac.

The versatile midfielder is known for his leadership skills and relentless energy in the middle of the park. He will play a vital role in coach Staikos Vergetis’s team.

Performance in ISL: Amarjit Singh Kiyam:

In 2018-19, he moved to the ISL and made his maiden ISL debut for Jamshedpur FC. Amarjit played 15 matches for the Men of Steel and also scored a goal.

Later in 2020–21, Amarjit was signed by another ISL side, FC Goa. He did not get much opportunity there. Amarjit played only six games for the Gaurs.

In 2021–22, Amarjit was loaned out to East Bengal FC. He has been with the Red and Gold Brigade for the last two years.

For East Bengal, Amarjit played 1181 minutes in 21 matches but did not make any remarkable contributions.

On joining Punjab FC, an excited Amarjit Singh Kiyam said,

“I am grateful to be a part of Punjab FC for the upcoming season. I am coming to a team which has performed exceptionally well last season, and I hope I will be able to give my best to take this team to newer heights.”

On acquiring the services of Amarjit and fellow young players, Punjab FC’s coach Staikos Vergetis said,
