Bayern loanee Alexander Nubel is sought permanently by Stuttgart

Italian goalkeeper

Bayern Munich goalee Alexander Nubel is a highly demanding player from Stuttgart. In the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich made significant changes to their goalkeeper position. Meanwhile, Yann Sommer departed from the club on a permanent basis to join Inter Milan. The Swiss goalkeeper sought regular playing time, which couldn’t be guaranteed at Bayern. Sommer’s transfer to Inter was through a pre-existing agreement with Bayern. Thus, enabling the move for a relatively modest fee.

Alexander Nubel was the other senior goalkeeper who left Bayern Munich. Initially, everyone thought that he would make a permanent departure, but instead, he secured a loan move to VfB Stuttgart. Bayern is closely monitoring his development and performances during his loan spell at Stuttgart.

Nubel has had an impressive start to the campaign with Stuttgart. The German goalkeeper has conceded just seven goals in five games. He also managed to keep three clean sheets in the Bundesliga. Thus, making him the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the league this season. Following a productive two-year loan stint at Monaco, Nubel appears to be making significant strides in his development as a goalkeeper.

Stuttgart is experiencing a fantastic beginning to the league season, currently holding the second position in the table. The club holds Alexander Nubel in high regard and is interested in securing his services for the long term. In an interview with Sport1 (via Bulinews), Stuttgart’s sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, expressed the club’s desire to make Nubel’s transfer permanent.

Why does Alexander Nubel want to leave Munich?

Alexander Nubel appears to have reservations about his future at Bayern Munich. Particularly with Manuel Neuer firmly established as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. He may be willing to consider a permanent move to Stuttgart. If there is no prospect of becoming the number one at Bayern. However, Nübel could contemplate staying at Bayern only if he receives assurances regarding his playing time.

Bayern Munich will face a pivotal decision regarding Alexander Nubel’s future next summer. Currently under contract until 2025 with the Bavarian club, if Bayern views him as a long-term successor to Manuel Neuer, they will need to extend his contract and provide him with opportunities for regular playing time. Conversely, if they do not see him in that role, they will have to explore potential transfer options to maximize his value.

Indeed, Nubel’s focus should be on making the most of his loan spell at Stuttgart. The better his performances, the higher his chances of securing the role as Bayern Munich’s number one goalkeeper in the future. If Bayern continues to limit his opportunities, there will likely be interest from other prominent clubs in Germany and across Europe next summer. Additionally, Nubel could also consider the option of staying at Stuttgart if he feels settled and valued at the club.
