If given a choice between these two football players, Messi and Ronaldo, who will you choose? Tough question, isn’t it? They have successfully been able to divide all football fans for more than a decade and a half.

Play Football like Messi or Ronaldo

Both these players have kept the whole world in awe with their skills on the pitch. One is an Argentinian and another a Portuguese. One depends more on his talent and skills while the other depends more upon his hard work and physical ability. Both share fifteen Ballon d’Or trophies amongst themselves.

Ronaldo and Messi hold many great football records. They are the reason which attracts large crowds to the stadiums. Both are champion players and competitors extraordinaire.

For more than fifteen years, the football world has been divided between its love for either Messi or Ronaldo. Post the Argentine forward scoring his 600th goal for Barcelona, former Barça player Gary Lineker tweeted:

“If he were just a goalscorer it would be astonishing, but the fact he’s also the best dribbler I’ve ever seen and as good a passer as I’ve ever seen makes him the best I’ve ever seen.”

Even greats like David Beckham, Ronaldinho, and Pele chose Messi over Ronaldo. But it was surprising when Wayne Rooney, former Manchester United striker chose eight-time Ballon d’Or over seven-time Ballon d’Or. He said:

“I’ve said this before, but they’re both probably the best two players ever to play the game and I just think Messi is in my eyes the greatest ever.”

However, Brazilian great Roberto Carlos chose The Portuguese forward over the Argentinian. He said:

“I watch him [Cristiano] train every day and the way he works is exciting. He wants to improve every day. That’s the difference with Messi.

“Leo is a phenomenon, but that side of Cristiano, of training, professionalism, focus, motivation, success… Cristiano has an advantage over all the others.”

And so does former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand.

But the real question is: Why do we have to choose between the two? Why can’t we just enjoy the game of both the players and leave the comparisons?
