Pedri out of action due to hamstring injury as concerns arise for Barcelona

Pedri

On Thursday night, when Barcelona played Manchester United in the Europa League, Pedri suffered a serious injury. Since Pedri is always one of the first names on the team sheet, it was an unfortunate situation to witness as he hobbled off the pitch at Camp Nou at 0-0.

Barça confirmed that Pedri suffered an injury against the Premier League side shortly after he was out of action in the 2-2 draw. The young player injured his right rectus femoris muscle, which is the type of injury players cannot recover from quickly.

In what is an incredibly hectic period of the season for the La Liga leaders, Pedri might miss at least four weeks. The return leg against Manchester United at Old Trafford will be without him. Due to Sergio Busquets’ injury and Gavi’s one-match suspension for his yellow card in the first leg, this is an even bigger blow.

Matches Pedri might miss for Barcelona

As a result of his absence, he will not play the home match against Cadiz on Sunday along with the second leg against Manchester United. In addition, he will also miss the away match at Almeria, the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid. But he will try his utmost to be back in the field before the El Clasico of La Liga.

The Clasico is Pedri’s target game during his recovery. For Barcelona to win La Liga this season, it could prove to be crucial. The team currently sits atop the table with a five-point lead.

He was just 18 years old at the time when Pedri made his first appearance for Barcelona in the 2020/21 season. As a matter of fact, it was a sink-or-swim situation, and he swam well. He is also having an excellent season currently and people will hope for his fast recovery.
