Real Madrid dressing room unrest over treatment of the veteran

Nacho Fernandez is the longest-serving player for the Los Blancos currently. Having risen through the ranks, he has been a constant backbone for the team as and when needed. Not a single report ever arose of his complaint at the lack of playtime. However in a commercial club like Real Madrid, recently the dressing room has gone into unrest over the treatment of the veteran, Nacho.

The recently turned 33-year-old had put on a strong display last season. This will naturally mean that he would be in Ancelotti’s plans this season. However, such has not been the case which has been marred by the arrival of the German tank, Toni Rudiger.

Nacho has clocked just 732 minutes in 15 games this season which is meager compared to Rudiger’s 1528 minutes in 23 games. This has given concern to several of the Los Blancos stars over his unfair treatment. Nacho always plays with his heart out on the field and he feels the weight of the badge, the weight of being the European Royalty.

He has always been a shadow king, coming up whenever called and dropping a masterclass. He has never complained – neither about playtime nor about which position he has played in. Following suit, he was given command of the left flank in defence.

Dressing room unrest

Key Real Madrid figures in the dressing room, as reported by Sergio Santos, do not understand what causes Nacho to be sidelined. They consider it unfair, given what Nacho has and still has, to offer to the club. Even more so is because of the number of errors in defence made by Rudiger, which aggravates the anger.

He has been at the club since 11 years of age, been at the club for longer than he hasn’t. Big clubs are looking to secure his signature, the likes of Milan and Wolves. Being a loyal member of the Merengues, his preference is to move to the USA so that he doesn’t have to play Real Madrid. This shows his commitment and desire and passion with which he defends the badge.

He has always wanted to end his career at Real Madrid. But with such unfair treatment, it will not be unfair for him to seek employment elsewhere. When his contract expires in the summer, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
