Christian Eriksen could reportedly return to playing football in England if he passes cardiac assessments as per the report in the English outlet Independent

The Denmark international suffered a cardiac arrest during the Euro 2020 match against Finland. Since then he hasn’t returned to playing football. And his current club Inter Milan have already stated that the midfielder will not take any part in this season due to medical reasons.

An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, a type of pacemaker which is normally placed to make sure there is a stable rate of Heartbeat, which has been planted inside the Danish midfielder following the incident in June. This action has prevented Eriksen from playing in Serie A. As they have a rule in place that no athlete can be involved in any sports with a heart defibrillator. With this, it would seem that the player’s career in the Italian league is close to over now.

The 29-year-old will have to change leagues to further continue his football career. Premier League could be an option for the former Tottenham Hotspur player or Eredivisie is another.

An F.A spokesperson has said that a sports person with an abnormal cardiac situation will be assessed before being allowed to play in England. He said:

“With regard to Christian Eriksen playing in England. It is impossible to comment on his individual circumstances without knowledge of his condition and the risks associated with it. As always, any assessment would be on an individual basis. In England, any player that has an abnormal cardiac screen or who develops a cardiac problem would be assessed by a sports cardiologist.”

Eriksen could return to England in order to pursue football career further:

The Danish talisman’s career in Italy might be over after just one and a half years. So, this has escalated the speculation about the 29-year-old’s possible return to England.

Meanwhile, following a disappointing couple of months away from football. Eriksen could be ready to make a move to England in January if he managed to pass the cardiac assessments. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Denmark international.
