Real Madrid might consider go for a different manager besides Alonso

Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid a couple of years ago. Following a brief stint at Everton, thus took many in the footballing world by surprise. His initial season back at Santiago Bernabeu was a resounding triumph. Since, the team achieved an impressive double by securing both the Champions League and La Liga titles, surpassing all prognostications. Nevertheless, with heightened expectations, the subsequent season proved lackluster in contrast. With the Copa del Rey being the sole major trophy they captured.

This season, the Italian manager has steered the team to a promising beginning. Apart from the frustrating derby defeat to cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid, Los Blancos have been performing admirably. However, despite the strong start to the campaign, speculations about Ancelotti’s future with the club persist.

The widely held expectation is that the Italian legend will assume the role of the next head coach of the Brazil national team at the conclusion of the season. Various names have been circulating in the media as potential successors to Ancelotti. With a significant number believing that Xabi Alonso is the frontrunner to secure the position.

Real Madrid to monitor Brighton’s manager?

Indeed, there appear to be other contenders in the mix. According to reports from Cadena SER (via GOAL), Real Madrid is contemplating the possibility of Roberto De Zerbi due to his commendable achievements with Brighton & Hove Albion.

De Zerbi’s inclusion as a potential candidate for the Real Madrid job is indeed somewhat beyond expectations. It’s worth noting that Los Blancos had previous encounters with De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk team. That is in the group stage of the 2021/22 Champions League, where they secured convincing victories with scorelines of 5-0 and 2-1.

Roberto De Zerbi is presently the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League. He has guided his team to an impressive start this season. With Brighton & Hove Albion occupying the 3rd position in the league table. Notably, they achieved a remarkable 3-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, showcasing a brilliant tactical display.

It’s certainly a subject of intrigue to see if De Zerbi has the capabilities to transition from managing Brighton & Hove Albion to taking charge at Real Madrid. However, a similar argument could be made regarding Xabi Alonso and his readiness for such a significant leap in coaching responsibilities.
