Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly preparing to go head-to-head for the signature of Metz’ starlet Pape Matar Sarr as per the report from Football Insider

The 18-year-old signed for the Ligue 1 outfit last September from Senegalese side Generation Foot. The youngster made 22 appearances in the league last term, scoring three goals from midfield. Following an impressive outing with the Maroons, the midfielder has caught the attention of big clubs from around Europe.

According to the report in Football Insider, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all chasing Sarr this summer. The Premier League clubs are ready to sign the midfielder before the 31st August deadline and send the 18-year-old back straightaway on loan to Metz.

The French club values their asset around £28 million as the player still has four years remaining in his current contract. The Maroons are currently brooding over financial difficulties during this pandemic period and the aforementioned fee would provide them with a well-needed relief.

Manchester United and Chelsea are in the race for Sarr:

Manchester United and Chelsea are looking for a new midfielder this summer and Sarr could be an excellent acquisition for the future. The midfielder can play in every position across the midfield which will be beneficial for both Premier League giants.

After securing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane early in the transfer market, the Red Devils are looking for a few more additions to the squad. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided updates regarding the transferred business that there might be one more incoming before the end of the transfer window.

On the other hand, having won the Champions League last term under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea are looking to strengthen the squad to diminish the dominance of Manchester City in the Premier League and are desperate to lift the title this term.

Manchester United and Chelsea both are looking to mount a title challenge this summer and are looking to invest in their squad in order to achieve that goal. Having started the season well, both teams will be looking to carry on that form and make some business towards the back end of the transfer window.
