Odisha FC are in the chase to sign Spanish defender Hector Rodas

Indian Super League franchise club Odisha FC are on the brink of signing Spanish defender Hector Rodas for the upcoming ISL campaign.

Earlier the Juggernauts have completed signing two Spanish Players with ISL experience. If Odisha FC manages to finalize the deal Hector will join fellow Spanish defender Victor Mongil in the defensive dimensions.

The 33 years old center back signed his first professional contract with the reserve side of Levante that competes in the Segunda Division. In 2009 Levante promoted him to the first team. He represented the club in the La Liga and UEFA Europa League. Later he parted ways with Levante and played for Spanish clubs such as Real Betis, Córdoba, Alcorcón, and Cultural Leonesa. Before signing with Alcorcón he joined Belgian club Cercle Brugge.

During his football career, he made 120 appearances in La Liga 2 and was also featured 38 times in La Liga matches.

The Juggernauts had a very disappointing campaign last season. Having won only two fixtures in the whole league resulted in a bottom-place finish.

After the departure of key players like Cole Alexander and Diego Mauricio, the Odisha-based club had to rebuild the club from scratch. Moreover, the club has acquired the services of many talented domestic players.

Odisha FC have appointed Spanish coach Kiko Ramirez to revive the team and help the club return to winning ways.

Currently, the club have signed Javi Hernández from last year’s runners-up ATK Mohun Bagan. They are likely to announce more overseas signing and contract extensions in the coming weeks.
