DELHI FC

Delhi FC, formerly known as Delhi Dynamos FC, is a professional football club based in Delhi, India. The team was established in 2014 and has since participated in the Indian Super League (ISL). It is the top tier of Indian football. The club has undergone several name changes and ownership changes since its inception. However, it has maintained a loyal fan base in the capital city.

History

Delhi FC was founded in 2014 as Delhi Dynamos FC by the DEN Networks Group. It is a leading Indian media company. In its first season, the team was coached by Dutch football legend Harm van Veldhoven. Meanwhile, they finished in the semi-finals of the ISL. The team continued to participate in the league for six seasons. They made it to the semi-finals three more times. However, they never managed to win the championship. In 2020, the club was renamed Delhi FC and was acquired by GMS Inc., a global sports management company.

Trophies

Despite being a regular participant in the ISL, Delhi FC has yet to win any major trophies. The team’s best finish came in its inaugural season in 2014 when it made it to the semi-finals. The team has been known for its strong attacking play, with players like Marcelinho, Miku, and Kalu Uche among its notable goal scorers.

Revenues

The exact revenues of Delhi FC are not publicly available, but the team has been sponsored by a number of major Indian and international brands, including Aircel, Adidas, and Daikin. The team’s home matches are played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, which has a seating capacity of over 60,000.

Rivalries

Their biggest rival is arguably FC Goa, with whom the team has played many intense matches over the years. The rivalry between the two teams is due in part to their geographical proximity and the fact that they are both among the most successful teams in the ISL. The team also has a smaller rivalry with Mumbai City FC, with whom they have played several close matches.

Fanbase

Delhi FC is a relatively new team in Indian football but has already established itself as a competitive force in the ISL. While the team has yet to win any major trophies, its loyal fan base and strong attacking play make it an exciting team to watch. With new ownership and a new name, the club is poised for continued success in the coming years.
