Vlahovic, Zakaria on cloud 9 following dream debut for Juventus

New signings Dusan Vlahovic and Denis Zakaria had a dream start to life at Juventus. The Italian giants took on Hellas Verona in a league game, winning with ease 2-0. It was the new boys who got on the scoresheet and helped them grab the win.

Serbian Vlahovic was a wanted man in the window, appearing on a number of teams’ wish lists. However, Juventus managed to swoop him up for a reported €70,000,000 ($80,000,000) fee from Fiorentina on January 28. That was just when the youngster turned 22. At the Allianz Arena, Vlahovic dons the No. 7 jersey, previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juventus took the early on. Of course, it was Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbia international found the net a clinical finish, perfectly lobbing the ball over an onrushing Lorenzo Montipo 13 minutes in.

Vlahovic a revelation for Juventus?

This was the forward’s 18th goal of the campaign. It now puts him as joint top scorer of the Serie A alongside Lazio ace Ciro Immobile (18 goals).

Furthermore, for goal number 2, it was a new acquisition as well. Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria made the switch from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach. He went on to double the advantage after dashing in from the midfield and powering in a low drive past the Verona keeper in the second period.

The Bianconeri are without defeat in 10 league games. After the win, Juventus climbed into 4th in the rankings with 45 points.
