Aizawl FC Assistant Coach Tests Positive for COVID-19

I-League outfit Aizawl FC assistant coach Lalsangzuala Hmar has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. As per reports from the media, Lalsangzuala wasn’t present with the club during their previous outing against RoundGlass Punjab FC.

The head coach, Stanley Rosario had previously tested positive for COVID-19 back in October. The assistant coach tested positive on December 30 upon reaching Kolkata and will quarantine himself at the team hotel.

“It was during his second Covid test upon arrival in Kolkata that he tested positive. He was retested 24 hours later and the result was again positive. As a result, he has been asked to stay in quarantine for 17 days after which he will be tested again,”

During the absence of both the coaches, team manager Gosen Rammawia will coach the side.

Aizawl FC lose their season opener:

Aizawl FC squared off against RoundGlass Punjab FC in their first game of I-League 2020/21. RGPFC’s striker Ningthoujam Pritam Singh netted a goal at the 18th minute to guide his side home with a victory.

Aizawl FC will play their second game against Gokulam Kerala FC on 20th December at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan. The club will hope to get back to winnings ways after tasting success in the previous game.
