Awards from Bayern Munich’s stunning 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman combined to score three unanswered goals as Bayern Munich defeated Christian Streich’s Freiburg in a rare emphatic performance. Who caught your eye today?

Jersey Swap: Nobody

Bayern were so strong today that no Freiburg player was able to make an impression strong enough to qualify for this group.

Der Kaiser: Kim Min-jae

This one is difficult because today’s defenders were very strong. The Korean defender maintained order and was a more steady presence at the back.

Der Fußballgott: Joshua Kimmich

It is more of a coin flip when there are just two midfielders (Konrad Laimer was instead used at right-back). Kimmich wins the award because he performed better overall and committed less mistakes than Leon Goretzka, his midfield partner.

Der Bombers: Leroy Sané

LEROY JENKINS! This guy is blazing! The 27-year-old winger was busy on the offensive end, eluding defenders and scoring twice in one game. One of those goals was disallowed for a slight offside, but the total remains at two (hey, Tom Adams and Liverpool FC). Life is excellent for Sané, who is a threat on the right while rediscovering his origins on the left.

On the other side, Kingsley Coman scored twice, which is also deserving of praise.

Müller of the Match: Thomas Müller

Despite just playing 71 of the whole 90 minutes in two games, the legendary Bayern player has twice been awarded the highest honour of the game honours. Müller’s influence on the team’s structure was immediately apparent as he assigned players to their proper places and maintained control for the most of the game. The cross-goal by Coman that started the scoring was also assisted by the 34-year-old. Müller wants to prove to Thomas Tuchel that he still has work to do and that there is space on the squad for more than one Thomas.
