Barcelona add Lucas Hernandez to summer wish list

Spanish media outfit Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona are interested in signing Bayern’s Lucas Hernandez this transfer window. However, the Frenchman’s move to Camp Nou seems quite unlikely given to his valuation.

Hernandez moved from Atletico Madrid to Bayern Munich in 2019 for a record €80,000,000 fee. Since his high-profile move, he has made 62 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting five.

He had a torrid first season in Germany. Despite winning the treble, he missed major parts of the season due to injury. Nevertheless, he has been inspiring in the 2020/21 season. The defender aided the German giants to a 9th consecutive Bundesliga title, assisting twice and registering 8 clean sheets in 23 league appearances.

The French international has been equally impressive for his national team as well. He was part of the World Cup winning squad in 2018, providing an assist in the final. At Euro 2020, he was part of the starting XI.

With the acquisition of Eric Garcia, Barcelona have given their defence a boost. Yet, they require another center-half with Umtiti and Lenglet poised for an exit.

The 25-year-old would fit in pretty well. He is versatile and is capable of operating at the left-back position too. Jordi Alba is entering the latter stages of his career and Hernandez could be the perfect signing.

In the recent season, he has grown in stature at Bayern Munich. This is probably why a club like Barcelona might be interested in Lucas Hernandez. However, the only obstacle in front of them is the lack of funds.

While a figure has not been mentioned concerning the valuation, the report argues that Barcelona cannot afford Hernandez.
