Barcelona closing in to get Bernardo Silva this summer

Barcelona

France’s Media Foot reports that PSG no longer have Bernardo Silva on their radar. Instead, Barcelona will look to sign the Manchester City playmaker in the summer transfer window.

Since joining AS Monaco in July 2017, Bernardo Silva has been one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League. However, Pep Guardiola has not always picked him as his first choice. Even so, the Portuguese international has delivered when it matters most.

During his time with Manchester City, the 28-year-old has contributed 50 goals and 56 assists. If the opportunity arises, Silva admits he would be interested in embarking on a new adventure. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have taken note of such a situation.

Is Bernardo Silva’s next destination at Barcelona?

Silva was a target for Barcelona during the summer transfer window. In spite of several economic levers and stretching their budget, they were unable to secure the playmaker’s services. Premier League champions Manchester City also didn’t want to part with their prized possession.

Barcelona remains interested in acquiring Silva in the summer. However, Barcelona has recently faced a few roadblocks. It included Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain.

In the summer transfer window, the French giants strengthened their midfield unit. As a result, it is unclear why Silva is on PSG’s list for the summer transfer window of 2023. Les Parisiens, however, have no interest in the 28-year-old playmaker because they want Warren Zaire-Emery to succeed and reach the summit at Parc des Princes.

With PSG’s new stance, Barcelona has the advantage in the race to sign the Portuguese international. Due to Barcelona’s never-ending financial woes, Silva may not be able to join Spotify Camp Nou. Whether the Catalan giants are able to secure the 28-year-old will be interesting to observe.
