Barcelona defender close to returning from injury

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Barcelona has faced cases of injuries to players. Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie De Jong, Memphis Depay, Bellerin, Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde, and Eric Garcia are fundamental first-team players. It is only safe to say that without these injuries, FC Barcelona would have fared much better. The club crashed out of the Champions League. It lost both games against Bayern Munich and faced unexpected results against Inter Milan, which sealed the unfortunate fate. The club doctors were managing the squad pretty well. But all came down during the first international break.

Almost the entire backline of the squad was injured in some or other over the past month. Ronald Araujo is out on a lengthy injury. Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Eric Garcia have all faced some sort of injury. Hector Bellerin has missed a huge part of the games, and Roberto has suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Barcelona defender will return soon to first-team dynamics

After leaving Tuesday’s Champions League match against Inter in the second half, Andreas Christensen has now been added to Barcelona’s expanding list of injured players. The injury to Ronald Araujo and the absence of Jules Kounde for Xavi led to the selection of the Danish international alongside Eric Garcia in the starting XI. Christensen, though, was forced to leave early because he seemed to develop an ankle issue. Gerard Pique took his position.

According to SPORT, the next player to come off the sidelines might be Andreas Christensen, who is reportedly extremely close to gaining his medical clearance. The 26-year-old transferred from Chelsea to Barcelona this past summer as a free transfer. For the most part of the games he has played, Christensen has appeared steady and sturdy. The central defender, who had made six appearances, sustained an ankle injury during the away UEFA Champions League game against Inter Milan.
