Barcelona looking for Borussia Dortmund right back

Julian Araujo

It has been challenging for Barcelona to find a suitable right-back. Especially since the former Ajax star Sergino Dest left for AC Milan on loan and Hector Bellerin left for Sporting CP in the winter. Both players were unimpressive according to the Camp Nou crowd.

Xavi Hernandez’s first choice right-back candidate is Jules Kounde. He is the most preferred candidate for the right back position of Barcelona. With the Catalan giants fatigued and suffering injuries, Xavi has deployed young left-back Alejandro Balde or veteran Sergi Roberto as his preferred right-back.

Reports from SPORT suggest that the club may be looking for a more affordable right-back. Thus this puts an end to rumors about Benjamin Pavard and Juan Foyth coming to Camp Nou. Despite both being high on the Barceona transfer wish list, the financial issues at the club are a major issue. Especially with the high fee demanded, it is difficult to go for these two.

Other options Barcelona might look for

Barcelona, however, are looking into a cheaper option after scouting reports on Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Munier have been favorable. It seems likely that the German club will let him leave in the summer. Since they already have Marius Wolf to fill in the void.

With Barcelona needing to reinforce the right-back position in the summer, the Spotify Camp Nou outfit could have to spend another long summer looking for a right-back. There is no way of knowing if Julian Araujo will be promoted to the first team. There is a possibility that a new name will be high on Barcelona’s agenda.
