Barcelona not interested in signing Frankfurt striker

Barcelona are reportedly not interested in bringing Eintracht Frankfurt Striker Andre Silva to Camp Nou. According to reports, Barcelona had shown interest in Andre Silva for filling the No.9 position in the team.

Andre Silva earned a high-profile transfer to AC Milan from FC Porto but endured a frustrating spell in Italy. After a middling loan spell with Sevilla, the 25-year-old signed for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019. Ever since, Silva has been in red-hot form, scoring 24 times and registered nine assists in 29 appearances at club level this season. His contribution helped the team to a surprise top-four push in the Bundesliga.

Many teams were linked to Silva following his current form and Barcelona was one of them. The Catalans are in desperate need of a proper striker in their team. However, according to various reports, Barca will not attempt to sign the forward in the upcoming transfer window.

Eintracht Frankfurt are willing to let Silva go as their priority is to retain Luka Jovic. There is no release clause in Silva’s contract, however, Frankfurt would be open to offers in the region of €40m. This may attract the clubs like Manchester United as Edinson Cavani may potentially exit Old Trafford later this year.

Do Barcelona need Andre Silva?

It is no secret that Barcelona is in the market for a new No. 9 ahead of the next season. After letting Luis Suarez leave for arch-rivals Atletico Madrid, Barcelona has been left with just Braithwaite as their only natural center-forward option, who has hardly been convincing enough.

Barcelona is expected to make some moves in the summer transfer window despite being short on funds, as Joan Laporta has promised to back Ronald Koeman in the summer. They are expected to dive into the free-agent market.

As of now, Laporta and Ronald Koeman are in agreement over four players. They both want to sign Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Sergio Aguero.
