Barcelona registers young talents ahead of UCL game against Shakhtar

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Barcelona will lock horns with Shakhtar Donetsk in their third UEFA Champions League clash of the season. The Catalans have successfully registered two 17-year-olds, Hector Fort and Marc Guiu, in their squad list for the Champions League. The Catalans play Shakhtar Donetsk on 25th October at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.

Marc Guiu

Marc Guiu made his first-team debut for Barcelona on Sunday night, coming on as substitute against Athletic Club. Within seconds of stepping onto the pitch, the 17-year-old striker made a match-winning contribution, scoring the only goal of that game.

With Lewandowski and Raphinha still not recovered from injuries, Barcelona are going into the game against Shakhtar depleted in attack. Guiu initially was not included in the Champions League squad. He is now part of the list and will be eligible to feature against Shakhtar tonight.

Hector Fall

Last week’s Barcelona game against Athletic Club was the first time that 17-year-old Hector Fort was called up to a first-team squad list. The young right-back was brought in as both Sergi Roberto and Kounde are out of the game due to injuries. As a result, he is also in the Barcelona Champions League squad as part of List B with Guiu against Shakhtar.

Both the players being called up by Xavi, will be interesting to see if they play some minutes against Shakhtar. Both the teams are in Group H along with FC Porto and Antwerp. Barcelona lead their group table with wins from both games.
