Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen completed the signing of midfielder Robert Andrich from Union Berlin. The 26-year-old join Die Werkself on a 5-year deal.

“Robert Andrich is experienced and established Bundesliga player, who has continually improved at all his previous clubs.”– told Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes about the new signing.

Andrich will be wearing the number 8 jersey in the coming season. Interestingly Leverkusen have started their Bundesliga campaign last weekend with a 1-1 draw against Andrich former side Union Berlin.

ANDRICH TO BOLSTER THE LEVERKUSEN MIDFIELD

The 26-year-old made his first Bundesliga appearance only two seasons ago. Prior to his move to Union Berlin, the midfielder was playing in the lower division of German football leagues.

However, Andrich made an impression playing for Union playing predominantly in a central midfield role. He has played 66 times for them in all competitions over two seasons. In that time he was able to score 9 goals and assisted for 6.

A good tackler of the ball and is strong in handling aerial duels. Andrich likes to play long balls and has in recent times found the nose for goals, often hitting by taking shots from distance. The player will help in providing more depth to Leverkusen midfield, while also help in reducing its average age.

Leverkusen will be in action again this Saturday in the Bundesliga. However, they will be facing strong opposition in the form of Borussia Monchengladbach.
