Fresh after securing a record 9th consecutive Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich is ready to reinforce themselves for the next season. Bayern Munich’s latest target seems to be Marcos Llorente from Atletico Madrid.
According to AS, Bayern Munich wants to bring Llorente to their club this season. The club is determined to bolster its midfield and provide new manager Julian Nagelsmann with a great squad. Manchester United and PSG are also interested in the Spaniard.
BAYERN MUNICH’S MIDFIELD REBUILD- WHY LLORENTE
Bayern Munich will be going into the new season under new manager Julian Nagelsmann. The squad is in the requirement for some rebuilding. The current midfield for the team comprises the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Javi Martinez, and Marc Roca.
Javi Martinez will be leaving the club at the end of the season as a free agent. Marc Roca on the other hand has not been able to cement his place in the squad and may even be sold. This meant that any injury to their major players Kimmich and Goretzka will become an issue for the team.
Thus securing a player like Llorente will help Bayern Munich to strengthen their squad. Llorente’s versatility can be a bonus as he can play in multiple roles, as per the manager requirements. At 26, he also offers a good long-term value and will be entering the peak of his career.
Marcos Llorente had a slow start to his career. He was a product of the Real Madrid academy. He was never able to establish himself in the Real team and decided to move to their local rivals Atletico in the summer of 2019. This turned out to be an excellent move for the midfielder who excelled at Atleti.
Llorente is now a regular on Diego Simeone’s side. He plays in multiple positions in the midfield from a defensive role to that of an attacking midfielder. He can be deployed as a second striker, partnering with Luiz Suarez this season. His tally of 12 goals and 11 assists this season in La Liga shows how vital he is for their team.
Currently second in the goal scorers list for Atletico Madrid this season, Llorente is pivotal for Simeone’s side. He has a contract with Atletico Madrid till 2024. The club is already in talks about giving him a new better deal. This means that getting the Spanish midfielder is going to be tough.
