Chelsea defenders Ben Chilwell and Reece James, two big names injured this week in a big blow for a title challenge. Frank Lampard’s side has just bounced back from two successive defeats in the Premier League.
According to the Telegraph, Chilwell will be missing his next few matches till the New Year.
The 24-year-old left-back suffered an injury in the 7th minute in the match against West Ham United. Reece James didn’t play that match due to a knee injury suffered last week.
Chelsea find themselves at 5th position despite thrashing West Ham United in the last match by 3-0.
Ben Chilwell and Reece James injuries are concerning?
Ben Chilwell has been the key player for the Blues and also has created chances for scoring goals multiple times. Chilwell came to Stamford Bridge after playing 123 matches for Leicester City. He scored four goals for the Foxes.
Chilwell has scored two goals in 17 matches for Chelsea as of now. However, for the big clash against Arsenal, he would be doubtful to appear in the starting 11.
As per The Athletic, Reece James also is doubtful about playing in the next match on Boxing Day against London rivals, Arsenal.
The 21-year-old right-back has scored 3 goals in 53 matches until now for Chelsea. He also played 105 games for Wigan Athletic and scored 7 goals on his 2018-19 season on loan.
Manager Frank Lampard expressed his thoughts on this situation;
“Reece and Chilly have been doing really well so we hope both their injuries are not too bad and they’ll be in and around those two games over Christmas.”
