According to a report from France, Chelsea are among the clubs in the picture for FC Metz’s Lamine Camara. The Blues have already carried out enquiries about him; and have been convinced by what they’ve seen and heard about the 20-year-old so far.

That’s according to Le10 Sport, who state that Chelsea had initiated contact with both the Ligue 1 side and the midfielder’s camp in January. However, the player turned them down.

Chelsea target Camara attracts interest after impressing in the AFCON

Camara made three appearances for Senegal at the African Cup of Nations. He was the star in the first game against Gambia, in which he scored a brace. His performances in the tournament and his form for Metz has seen him draw the attention of clubs in England and across Europe.

He has played in central, attacking, as well as defensive midfield this season; showing his versatility. The Senegalese has so far scored one goal and provided three assists in 19 appearances in the French top flight this season

It is said several Premier League sides, including Chelsea, as well as Real Betis and Juventus have all positioned themselves for a potential deal for the midfielder.

A move to the Premier League not in Camara’s plans

Chelsea have included Lamine Camara in their transfer wish list but could find it difficult to sign him. That’s because a move to the Premier League is not part of Camara’s immediate plans and he wants to continue his development in France, either at Metz or at another club.

His decision is understandable since regular game time won’t be guaranteed at the Stamford Bridge. Also, the Premier League is the most demanding league, which might be a factor to reject an early move to England.
