Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Real Madrid to bring the Belgian magician back to Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazard left Chelsea for the Los Blancos in the summer of 2019 after helping Chelsea win the UEFA Europa League. However, his career has been on a downward spiral since then. Hazard’s dream move to Madrid has been hit by injuries.
Hazard has only made 47 appearances in the La Liga over 3 seasons for Real Madrid. He has only scored 6 goals for Madrid. An unfortunate turn of events for Eden Hazard, the Belgian is now a bench warmer for Real Madrid.
However, he still has a home in Chelsea, a place where he led his team to several laurels. Chelsea are in talks to bring Eden Hazard home. A loan move is currently being discussed between the two clubs. Old pastures for Eden Hazard can help him reignite his career. With the impending arrival of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, Real Madrid will be looking to free unwanted players.
The likes of Marcelo, Isco, and Gareth Bale are all going to leave. Madrid have shown little sentiment towards their legends. Sergio Ramos was allowed to leave for PSG last season. Hence, Real Madrid are unlikely to stand in Hazard’s way for his reunion with Chelsea.
Real Madrid are also targeting Erling Haaland alongside Mbappe. With Madrid’s plans for the summer already in motion, Hazard is unlikely in Carlo Ancelotti’s plan for next season. Hence, a return to Chelsea may make sense for both parties.
It is hard to imagine that Hazard will reject a return to Chelsea. If everything goes according to Real Madrid’s plans, we may see Eden Hazard grace the Premier League again and Kylian Mbappe in the La Liga.
